As the charitable beneficiary, Kure It is excited to announce the fundraising campaign Rivals United for a Kure, inspired by the filming of A City Divided. A City Divided is a documentary highlighting the longstanding rivalry between the football teams of the University of Southern California and the University of California – Los Angeles. Kure It will equally donate all proceeds from the film to the USC and UCLA medical centers for cancer research.
There are many college football rivalries; however, the USC/UCLA rivalry remains unique since the schools share the city of Los Angeles, with only 12 miles of separation. A City Divided will feature the most memorable moments in the schools’ rivalry, with personal accounts from coaches, players and fans.
The movie is being filmed by Emmy Award winners Jack Baric and Barry O’Brien. The goal of the project is to unite students, alumni and fans of both schools in the mission of funding innovative cancer research.
Money donated to cancer research includes half the profits from the film’s DVD sales, all of the net proceeds from the red carpet film premiere and 15% of the overall budget for the film project.
From now until the Bruins and Trojans meet each other on the football field this November, Rivals United for a Kure will be hosting a pledging campaign with the intent of reaching out to the fan community to raise funds and awareness for innovative research into underfunded cancers. The campaign brings both sides together to unite on something we can all get behind: the fight against cancer. Throughout the campaign, we will be hosting contests and issuing prizes, so join the fun and qualify for really cool Trojan and Bruin stuff, event tickets, and autographed swag!
We will also crown a First Place Individual Fundraiser and a First Place Team Fundraiser from each school at the close of the campaign. Okay, maybe no actual crown, but winners will be honored and showered with attention at the Red Carpet Premiere & Gala on November 12, 2012.
